– Women’s Land Army: The first Women’s Land Army Corp was opened at Ballandean yesterday.
Thulimbah Camp will be opened on the weekend. Glen Aplin Camp is being put in order. More camps will be established if sites and water available. Up to 300 girls will work in the district

January 12
– Case Shortage: “The greatest disaster in the history of the Granite Belt threatens fruitgrowers”
of tons of tomatoes and fruit could be left to rot in orchards. Local mills are unable to procure logs Brisbane is offering more for Killarney logs than local mills can afford to pay. Mills are required to cut 50 per cent for the Army; A large number of case were sold outside the district. The present position is this: none of the mills have logs and many fruitgrowers have no cases.
200,000 more cases are required to market Granite Belt produce.
