Family traditions abound

It was a rollercoaster ride getting there according to the bride, but on 3 June Rebecca Volpato and Matthew Hendry were married at Valle Orchard with a reception at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre.

Bride Rebecca, the youngest daughter of Milco and Desleigh Volpato, was attended by maid of honour Angela Carnell and bridesmaids Adrienne Stacey, Mel Sheriff, Kimberley Dullahide, Bronnie Abraham and Liana Pennisi.

Groom Matthew, the youngest and only son of John and Maria Hendry, had Jason Cobon as his best men while Ben Staley, Nathan Reidy, Ben Palmer, Luke Schnitzerling, Adam Burton and Nathan Stibbard serviced as groomsmen.

The couple got engaged in Italy outside the same church as Rebecca’s grandparents Angelo and Oriana were married in.

“We found out two weeks later that we were expecting our first son, Wally in the May so had to plan the date for November,” Rebecca explained.

“Then covid hit so we had to reschedule twice but then found out we were expecting son two Ned.

“We decided after Ned was born to lock in the wedding, as well as do a complete house knockdown and rebuild so to get to this special day had been a bit of a rollercoaster.”

While it was quite a ride to get to the day most of the decisions about the wedding were fairly easy for the couple.

“The decision to have our ceremony on my family farm is something that was very important to me, its such a beautiful property and I have the best memories growing up there,” Rebecca said.

“The team at ‘Everybody Say Love’ wedding events transformed the apple packing shed and it was perfect.

“Having both grown up in Stanthorpe we felt it was important to support local businesses and use local vendors as much as we could.

“We were lucky enough to be Andrew Simpson’s last event before he made his move north.

“The decision to have the reception at the Civic Centre was special because both of our parents had theirs there when they got married.”
