Hosting the Zonta clubs

Zonta Stanthorpe hosted almost 40 attendees including District 22 Gov Lyn Agnew and board members, members of Zonta E-club, Ipswich, Toowoomba Garden City, Zonta Toowoomba, Roma and Warwick clubs for the District 22 Area 4 meeting on Saturday 13 April.

District 22 Gov Lyn Agnew welcomed the guest speakers who covered a variety of topics.

Jenny Ziesemer donated funds to Zonta Foundation.

Sandy Venn Brown – Zonta International Director reported on the recent 68th Commission on the Status of Women held in New York in March.

Representatives from Hermitage Research Station in Warwick Dr Barbara George, and Kerrie Rubie spoke on STEM opportunities and the annual Schools Plant Science Competition encouraging women and girls into these areas of study.

Dr Colleen Hunt shared her personal journey into the field of Biometrics at Hermitage Research Station.

Petra Ladwig – D22 Lieutenant Governor expanded on the Zonta Australia initiative to enable us to have more of a voice to advocate at the local and state government levels.

Jane Reid – Presented a slide show to promote registrations to the Zonta International Convention Brisbane – 27th-30th June.

The daytime session held at the Stanthorpe RSL ended with a Mozzarella cheese-making demonstration by Zonta Club member Valerie Pearson where the ladies were able to taste the finished product.

These meetings are valuable for members to collaborate and create connections. Further fellowship was extended with attendees and partners gathering for an evening meal at the QCWT with entertainment provided by Zonta Stanthorpe member Sarah and husband David Hume.

Zonta members are now in the process of preparing for our AGM with a new board to be installed on 13 May.
