Going global in a busy July

Zonta Stanthorpe members have kept busy in the last month.

Five members of Zonta Stanthorpe recently attended the Zonta International Convention.

Over 1700 people from 66 countries attended this event at the Brisbane Convention Centre from 26-30 June.

It was a very busy few days, the highlight being that our member Sandy Venn-Brown was elected as International Vice President.

Members attended interesting workshops and strategic business sessions as well as presentations by keynote speakers Rabia Siddique and Lisa Blair. Presentations from Amelia Earhart, Jane M Klausman Women in Business, STEM and Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship recipients were both interesting and inspiring. Being able to attend the convention was a wonderful and enjoyable experience.

Locally Zonta Stanthorpe members again provided grazing platters for the Murphy’s Pigs concert on Saturday 13 July.

Sixty-five platters were assembled, some were pre-sold and more were available for purchase on the night. This was a successful event and funds raised will support local individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

On Sunday 14 July we had the opportunity to have a stand at Markets in the Mountains. Markets provide this table free of charge to a NFP organisation and we used this opportunity to hold a raffle and provide information regarding our Club to locals and visitors.

Date Claimer – Zonta Stanthorpe was chartered in April 1999. To celebrate 25 years we will be holding a dinner dance at Granite Belt Brewery on Saturday 21 September 2024.

Tickets will be $85- per person and include a 2 course meal and entertainment by Cole Train. Tickets are available on Humanitix or at Gracious Giving.
