Tenterfield Showgirls in the ring this week

Tenterfield’s Annual Show Society Ball saw six Showgirl contestants presented for 2011. An almost-record number of entrants turned out for this year, showing a surprising array of talents.

Taking centre stage after being the Showgirl event organiser for the past two years was Joanne Grogan. An enthusiastic and hardworking member of the show society team, Jo takes some well deserved limelight in the contest this year. She grew up on her family’s Tenterfield property and is now based in Armidale working for an accounting firm.
Another strong contender is Georgie Chorley who is known locally for her dedication to music and her sweet singing voice. She was awarded Young Citizen of the Year in 2008 for her endeavours. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Music and managed the Civic Big Band in Newcastle. Her ultimate ambition is to be an orchestral musician with a major company.
Angela Schofield, 18, is based in Tenterfield as a trainee beautician at Three Wishes Day Spa.

Katie McMeniman, 18, is a pony club instructor and involved in local community activities, like sport. She begins her teacher training this year.

Nicole Shearman, 18, since finishing her HSC, has worked as a barista at the Willowtree café. She will begin a degree in Sports Tourism Management at Southern Cross University in Lismore shortly.

Hannah Halliday, 18, lives at the family property at Sandy Flat. She is having a gap year, working at BiLo in 2011 before studying Primary Education at the University of New England in Armidale in 2012.
More than 100 turned out for Saturday’s Show Society Ball. All reports say it was a top night, with a good band  and a good crowd.
Tenterfield’s Miss Showgirl title will be announced tomorrow night.
