The Carnarvon Bridge in Stanthorpe is now open to two lanes of traffic following repairs to the Quart Pot Creek footbridge, Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace said on Tuesday.
Minister Wallace said last month’s floods caused major damage to the handrails on the footbridge and road approaches to the bridge.
“In the interests of safety, the footbridge was closed and the bridge was reduced to one lane while repairs were carried out,” he said.
“Our 33,000 kilometre road network suffered major damage in the floods and road crews
have been working hard to
reopen vital links, such as the Carnarvon Bridge, for local communities.
“I thank drivers for their patience and understanding while the work was being carried out,” he said.
