Education delegation to visit

The Department of Education has given an undertaking that it will send a delegation to visit Warwick to look at the overcrowding issue at the Warwick State High School and the potential to purchase Slade Campus to alleviate this problem.
Southern Downs Regional Mayor Ron Bellinghamannounced this decision following last Thursday’s delegation to the Department of Education in Brisbane.
“It was very clear the department had not really considered Slade as an option,” Cr Bellingham said.
“These young people in our community do not have sufficient room,” he said.
“The commitment was made that they (the Department of Education) needed to look at the buildings themselves.”
However, he said, they do not know when this would occur.
“I’m hoping it will be sooner rather than later. It was made abundantly clear that the council has called for expressions of interest for the purchase of Slade Campus,” Cr Bellingham said.
The expressions of interest close in March.
