Road closure notice:  Strudwick’s Road, Yangan

Southern Downs Regional Council advises that Strudwick’s Road at Yangan is closed at the crossing over Swan Creek until further notice.
An inspection was carried out recently after water damage was reported as undermining the road structure.
There are two 375mm diameter pipes in the slab at the Swan Creek crossing, which have become blocked.
The council engineers have also found that water is flowing under the slab, undermining the footings.
Director of engineering Peter See said the upstream side of the slab will be cleared to remove the blockage in the pipes.
“This should drop the level in the creek,” Mr See said.
“We can then have a closer inspection of the situation to assess the extent of undermining. This will happen early next week.”
In the meantime, the road will be closed to all traffic at the Swan Creek crossing.
Access to properties between Yangan and Borne Road is still available. Access to the Yangan Waste Facility and properties on the southern side of the crossing is available via Jingarry-Mt Sturt Road, then Hermitage-Emuvale Road.
