It’s been a long two-year wait for local award-winning artist Clare Cotton to be able to secure space at the Warwick Art Gallery for a solo exhibition, but she says it was well worth it.
Ms Cotton, winner of the Warwick Art Prize for textiles in both 2007 and 2009, is stoked that her exhibition ‘Sky above…Earth below’ is on display at the gallery during the annual Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival.
“To see them hanging on the wall with space around them is fantastic. Normally they’re just on the floor, I don’t have room to display them at home,” she said.
It has only been in her retirement that Ms Cotton has discovered her passion and talent for textile art.
“I would like to think that people that look at the tree jumpers would come to the art gallery and have a look at something different,” she said.
‘Sky above…Earth below’ will be exhibited at the Warwick Art Gallery until August 7.
