Update on rates notices

Council advises that Southern Downs rates notices have been forwarded to the printers for issue and are expected to be in ratepayers’ letterboxes next week.
Residents will have 30 days from the date of issue on their rates notice to pay their rates in full in order to receive a 10 per cent discount. The discount will not apply to rates unless paid by the discount due date.
If you believe your property is rated in the incorrect category, you can object. A “Notice of Objection against Categorisation” must be lodged within 30 days of the issue date of the rates notice.
An objection to your rating category may take longer than 30 days to process and ratepayers who are objecting are reminded that they must still pay their rates in full within 30 days, regardless of the status of their objection, to receive the 10% discount. If the objection is allowed and the rating category is changed the rates will be adjusted at that time.
Please see the insert in your rates notice for instructions on paying your rates and objecting to a rates category.
