Local events showcased at Queensland conference

The Queensland Events Conference held just recently in Townsville attracted more than 200 delegates from Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.
Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival and the Leyburn Sprints were selected to have table displays and Tracey Vellacott (Warwick Tourism and Events), Jamie and Patricia Chant (Leyburn Sprints) and Deborah Wheeler (Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival) represented the Southern Downs region.
The three-day conference offered numerous  information sessions for organisers in regional areas on methods to hold major events, the importance of media, web and social media, packaging, revenue, sponsors, volunteers and the role and relationship with local government.
“It was a fantastic networking opportunity and I am looking forward to passing on the information to fellow committee directors. I believe we can consolidate this acquired knowledge and work at taking future festivals here to newer levels,” Ms Wheeler said.
