Council thanks SES

Southern Downs Regional Council has recently thanked the Warwick State Emergency Services (SES) crew for their dedication and assistance.
Members of the group were invited to attend the council’s December general meeting and morning tea as a sign of the council’s appreciation.
The Warwick SES recently was awarded the top SES award in Queensland for their efforts in the Southern Downs region.
Mayor Ron Bellingham said he was not at all surprised that they had received state-wide recognition.
“It has just confirmed what we already knew, that here is a group of selfless, dedicated volunteers that are highly professional in what they do,” Cr Bellingham said.
“On behalf of our community, I thank these people who volunteer their time to protect and assist during all kinds of situations, disasters or otherwise,” he said.
The Warwick SES played a critical role in the council’s flood response in January 2011 and December 2010, Cr Bellingham said.
