Industry leaders to coordinate tourism merger

Two of Australia’s leading tourism consultancies, EC3 Global and the Stafford Group, have been appointed to coordinate the merger between regional tourism organisations Toowoomba Golden West and South Burnett Tourism and Southern Downs and Granite Belt Regional Tourism.
Mark Olsen of EC3 Global has been selected to conduct in-region consultation with tourism industry stakeholders, while Albert Stafford of the Stafford Group has been appointed project leader to work with the Transition Advisory Board.
Transition Advisory Board chair Cr David Carter welcomes EC3 Global and the Stafford Group.
“This is an exciting time for tourism as we join forces across the region,” Cr Carter said.
“The merger is a great opportunity for both regions and guarantees to give the industry a stronger voice in what is a very competitive and challenging industry,” he said.
“No longer will we be perceived as a small, fragmented tourism industry west of the range.”
Regional Tourism Organisation chief executive officer Mary-Clare Power is looking forward to working with both consultancies.
“EC3 Global is a highly respected organisation based in Queensland, and working in both the domestic and international markets, with recognised experience in industry and community consultation,” Ms Power said.
“The Stafford Group has in-depth knowledge of our region and industry after completing an independent review of the proposal to merge last year.
“In particular they also have a great deal of experience with best practice and benchmarking within the tourism industry.”
EC3 Global will start in-region consultation in all areas from March until May.
