Charming gardens open to the public

Beautifully constructed, yet relaxed and casual, The Laurels and Scotchmans Hill will inspire and delight visitors with their strong plantings and many different areas of interest.
Both gardens will be open for public viewing from 10am to 4.30pm on March 31 and April 1.
At The Laurels, 54 Locke Street, Warwick, landscape designer Clint Kenny’s charming garden reflects his creativity and unique flair for unusual planting combinations. Set around a lovely 100-year-old home, the Laurels is a delight.
Formal and informal elements seamlessly combine to create a beautiful yet productive garden that includes an attractive chook pen among mixed plantings of fruit trees, vegetables, herbs and ornamentals.
A very special feature of the garden is the magical treehouse nestled into a 100-year-old camphor laurel.
Keen and aspiring gardeners will not want to miss the talks given by Clint Kenny at 11am and 2pm on both days.
Whereas at Scotchmans Hill, 92 Canning Street, Warwick, hedges define themed areas in this delightful secluded garden that is filled with clever plantings of roses and perennials, which provide spring and summer flowering. Mature maples, liquidambars and pecans bring brilliant autumn colour.
The garden includes grasses, eucalypts, a fernery, ponds and a dramatic sandstone cliff. There are views out to the river flat from most areas of this garden, which has been created to attract local wildlife including birds, frogs, small animals and reptiles.
There will be refreshments and light lunches available and plants will be for sale.
Both gardens have an admission fee of $6, with people aged under 18 free.
