Campdraft success

The 2012 Stanthorpe Campdraft was held on the weekend of March 10 and 11
The first event, an Encouragement Draft, was added to the program in response to feedback received from competitors during 2011. Competitors are eligible to run in the Encouragement Draft if they or their horse have not won any other competitions. This draft was extremely well supported and competitors are looking forward to having it remain in the program.
There were 82 entries in the Kristy B’s Hair Designs Encouragement Draft. One round was run, with no final. Warwick’s Lyle Bellingham came first on Honey, with a score of 87 and was also the Highest Cut Out. The Stanthorpe Pony Club Junior Draft attracted 10 competitors, with Cooper Rafton from Mt Marshall on Demon taking first place with a score of 71. The RB Sellars Juvenile Draft also attracted 10 competitors and Nobby’s Clarke Love on Special FX came first with a score of 81.
The Tom Fox Memorial Maiden Draft commenced with a minute’s silence in memory of Mr Tom Fox. Tom undertook the Stanthorpe Campdraft score board activities for years and featured prominently during those drafts. Tom will be sadly missed. There were 150 competitors in the Maiden Draft, resulting in 22 finalists. Bill Abraham from Texas came first on Fortune, with a score of 253. The winner of the Highest Cut Out was Tenterfield’s Mark Chorley. The Stanthorpe Vet Care Novice Draft drew 164 competitors resulting in 22 finalists. In the end the title went to Inverell’s Cathy Anderson on Lucy Lu with a score of 169. The winner of the Highest Cut Out for the Novice Draft was Tim Rohan from Darlington. Cathy scored again in the National Farmers’ Warehouse Open Draft, besting 92 competitors with a score of 173 on Sabrina. In a record for Stanthorpe, there were 19 competitors on the same score of 21 for the Highest Cut Out, so the winner had to be drawn out of a hat. The winner was Karin Perkins from Yangan.
