Great day to ride

Stanthorpe State School Supports Ride2School Day!
Stanthorpe State School was delighted to take part in the recent Ride2School Day, a national event which took place on Friday, March 23.
The aim of this special day was to increase the number of students walking and riding to school across Australia and ultimately encourage healthy lifestyles by increasing students’ physical activity levels. Stanthorpe State School enthusiastically supports students riding or walking to school.
Many students across all year levels took part in this fantastic event and, with the wonderful support and expert coordination of teacher and keen cyclist, Miss Dell Johnson, students were encouraged to avoid the drive and instead, ride, walk, scooter or skate to school.
Some terrific prizes, cool stickers and other terrific sporting goodies were on offer for students who took part in this day of activity. A ‘pedal around the oval’ event during the lunch break saw the school oval come alive with enthusiastic cyclists and spectators.
Riding to school is a great way to start students’ days with some fresh air and exercise, gives them a wonderful sense of wellbeing, makes them feel more alert, happy, healthier, and enables students to perform even better in class.
Many parents of Stanthorpe State School enjoy walking or wheeling to school with their children and it’s hoped from this recent experience, it will be a healthy habit that even more children and their parents will take up.
