From 12pm Saturday, the New England Highway at Tenterfield will be closed to traffic for a carnival parade inspired by songman Peter Allen.
The parade will be a highlight of a week-long arts and music festival, which celebrates a 20-year memorial of the locally born star (aka the Boy from Oz).
Travellers through Tenterfield should expect delays downtown around this time.
Starting at 12.30pm, the street parade travels from High Street (Bruxner Highway East) down the main street and up Manners Street to finish at the Tenterfield Showgrounds.
More fun will follow down at the showgrounds from 1pm where live bands, markets and plenty of food will be served up.
A live radio broadcast by Ten FM (Community radio 89.7 or 98.9 FM) will keep travellers advised of changed traffic conditions.
Normal traffic flow is likely to be disrupted for about an hour from 12pm to 1pm.
Long distance travellers are advised to take advantage of the delay. Drivers should plan to stop, revive and enjoy the spectacle in Tenterfield on Saturday.
