Historical motorcycles jazz up Leslie Park finale

Car lovers got a dose of the Jumpers and Jazz spirit last Sunday, but this Sunday historical motorcycles will take the spotlight. Between 60 and 80 vintage motorcycles are expected to jazz up Leslie Park this Sunday as part of the festival finale.
Organiser Sam Reid said that bikes from as far north as Mackay and south from Grafton and Ballina in New South Wales will link up with motorcyclists from Brisbane, the Burnett, Dalby, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gympie, Ipswich, Kingaroy, Pine Rivers, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Tamborine Mountain and Toowoomba for this weekend’s annual Frostbite Rally in Allora, which has both a social and competitive atmosphere.
“We always have a social ride on the Saturday afternoon, dropping in to the historic Sandy Creek pub for a visit,” Mr Reid said.
“After the social ride we run a charity fundraiser for around an hour, which this year has, an ‘Olympic’ theme.
“Two teams of six will compete in a ‘Chariot Flag Race’ where two ‘Roman centurion-style’ chariots will be pulled by competitors around a set course.
“It’s just a bit of fun and the two teams this year will be Great Britain versus the United States of America, depicting motorcycles made from these two countries.”
On Sunday, motorcyclists will compete in a timed navigation rally, which will incorporate the Jumpers & Jazz Picnic in the Park.
Mr Reid said that bikes will begin entering Leslie Park at staggered intervals from around 9.30am and will be there until around 11.30am.
Further information on the finale weekend of Jumpers & Jazz in July and inclusive events can be obtained by telephoning the Warwick Tourism & Events office on 4661 9073.
