Keeping school positive

Recognising the positive behaviour of students.

Stanthorpe State School recognises the strong correlation between good behaviour and positive learning outcomes and as such are committed to the achievement of excellent behaviour throughout the school.
Underpinned by Education Queensland’s ‘Code of School Behaviour’, students, teaching, administration and support staff have worked together to create a new responsible behaviour plan.  This plan ensures that whilst at school our students, teachers and staff are enveloped in a safe, supportive and disciplined environment that respects the rights of all students to learn, the rights of all teachers to teach and the rights of all, ultimately, to be safe.
Some of the positive reward systems include our very popular ‘Gotcha’ cards distribution – whereby students exhibiting any of our Stanthorpe Seven Values, whether they be in the classroom or in the playground, are issued with a special ‘Gotcha’ card. This gives the student a chance of winning a fantastic prize of a tuckshop voucher on parade, (now who said there’s no such thing as a free lunch!).
The school also have a range of sought after classroom awards for great work including students’ academic achievements, reading accomplishments, music progress and positive classroom behaviour recognition.  Such awards not only reward the individual, they highlight the many positive achievements and attributes displayed by our students and reinforce a quality example of behaviour for others to follow.
As a school, Stanthorpe State is committed to promoting learning, creativity and innovation and seek to provide a quality, futures oriented education that enables all students to achieve their full potential.
