Showtime for Tenterfield

With entertainment and competitions being held over two days this year, the 136th Annual Tenterfield Show promises to be packed with fun for the whole family.

The Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 8 and 9, with campdrafting being postponed until a two-day campdraft on March 16 and 17.

Tenterfield Police are taking the opportunity to ask people attending the show to please exercise caution and enjoy themselves.

“Police are asking that people attending do not to bring any alcohol onto the Tenterfield Showgrounds. The Tenterfield Showground is an ‘Alcohol-free Zone’, except in areas which are designated,” Sergeant Gregory Fitzpatrick said.

“Any alcohol detected outside these designated areas will be seized. Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in prosecution for any offence, or persons being banned from future attendance at the Show.

“So, enjoy the show and be mindful of others.”

The NSW Rural Fire Service will be demonstrating how to get FireWise on the Farm, with a focus on livestock safety at the Tenterfield Agricultural Show this weekend.

Superintendent Chris Wall-bridge said this year’s Ag Show will be a great opportunity to meet your local volunteer firefighters as they raise awareness of the risks of bushfires; and the best ways to protect yourself, your families and properties.

“The local Shows are a fun and interesting day out for families, as well as for our volunteers. We enjoy sharing information and showing the local community what they can do to stay safe,” said Superintendent Wallbridge.

“It’s a great opportunity for the community to discover more about the role volunteers play at all types of emergencies, with brigades holding practical demonstrations.

“For children and adults alike, it’s also a chance to learn valuable skills on how to protect you and your family from bush and grass fires.

“I’d encourage all local residents to come along this weekend, join in the fun and thank our RFS volunteers for the invaluable work they do,” said Superintendent Wallbridge.
