Stanthorpe in 1928

Bert Hinkler's Avro Avian G-EBOV in Stanthorpe, June 1928 (Contributed by: QldPics) Hinkler landed on an open area on the McGreggor Estate (now part playgrounds and public tennis courts) on 13 June, 1928. The wings were folded back and the plane was wheeled down the main street to Pierpoint and Sons to be refuelled. The petrol pump is on the left of the garage doors. Crowds are gathered to watch the occasion.
