Warwick Art Gallery’s yarnbombed tree exhibition holds a special place in the community’s hearts for its ability to bring people together, ignite the imagination, and spread joy in unexpected ways.

In a world often filled with uncertainty, these whimsical expressions of creativity serve as a reminder of the power of art to unite and inspire us all.

To commemorate the twentieth year of the Tree Jumper exhibition, and the Jumpers & Jazz in July festival, Warwick Art Gallery has curated a retrospective exhibition of memorable artworks, stories, photographs and media articles which will open on Thursday 18 July and continue every day of the 2024 festival.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the festival, one can’t help but be drawn to the fine detail and high-level creativity that the artists put into their entries. It is astonishing what artists have created over the years using simple crafting techniques such as felting, knitting, crochet and embroidery.

The exhibition brings an opportunity to reminisce about the last twenty festivals and connect with some of the most loved and celebrated Tree Jumpers.

A companion to the exhibition is a beautiful souvenir book produced by Warwick Art Gallery which shares the thoughts and artwork of twenty Tree Jumper artists who have been regular participants. Research and interviews for the book began after the 2023 festival and many accomplished artists are featured, both local and not.

Read and remember the entries by Helen Gross, Margaret Armstrong, Jessica Thomspon and Jenelle Matthews to name a few. Community groups such as Warwick Guides and Warwick Spinners and Weavers are also represented. The book will be on sale from the first day of the 2024 Jumpers and Jazz in July festival at Warwick Art Gallery.

Both the retrospective exhibition and commemorative book have been produced with assistance from local businesses and individuals. Warwick Art Gallery gratefully acknowledges the sponsorship received from Saturn Electrical, Condamine Accountants, Goodyear Autocare Warwick, Lister Irrigation, On Line Services Bookkeeping & Payroll, Hope Therapy and Consulting, Farm Finance, The Nobby Shed, McCorquodale & Co, Ty Gardner Concreting, Goomburra Valley Campground, Haymans Electrical, Geoff and Gillian Knott, Warrego Water, Jacob and Charlie Kain and Olsens Produce.

Twenty Years of Yarnbombing Tree Retrospective Exhibition will open on Thursday 18 July. Open 10am to 4pm every day during Jumpers and Jazz in July.
