Granite Belt Markets fresh new day

By Dominique Tassell

The Granite Belt Farmers’ Market will soon be held on Saturdays, with market managers Bridget Ryan and Natasha Jackson taking a step back.

Bridget said she and Tash have been doing the markets for seven and a half years but felt it was time for a change.

She said she can’t commit to the full day at the markets anymore.

Bridget said there are a few different people taking over, with a roster of different farmers set to help out at the markets.

The markets are moving to Saturday as it’s easier for people, and the new faces stepping up to thought it would be a good change.

“The railway precinct is a great location,” Bridget said.

They’ll be getting new stallholders on Saturdays but the current ones are keen to move across.

An added benefit of the new Saturday slot is the railway precinct café, which is open on Saturday mornings.

Locals can also check out the community garden too, or take a look at the train.

The markets will be open from 7:30 to midday.

Bridget is still the main contact for stallholders and said anyone interested can contact her through Facebook.
