TJ Byrnes vandalism

The monument of TJ Byrnes on Palmerin Street has been adorned with a variety of different hats and attire, but the statue has been physically damaged in the past.

According to Warwick Police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater, the statue is not monitored.

“But if we get complaints of damage, we will review the CCTV footage,” Sergeant Slater said.

“We haven’t recently, but we come across offenders climbing up and they are charged.”

Vehicle damage

On Friday 27 May at 10am, willful damage was committed to a Wood Street vehicle.

A woman reported that the vehicle’s windscreen was smashed and the front panel was scratched.

The damage was in relation to an argument between herself and a known male person.

Warwick Police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater said investigations are continuing and although they have a suspect, this will continue.

Washpool Road break-ins

In the afternoon of Saturday 28 May, someone reported a break-in on Washpool Road which had occurred a week prior.

Three storage sheds were broken into on the same block and a variety of products were stolen, including two generators, tools, and jerrycans of fuel.

There are currently no suspects.

Late-night assault

On 29 May at half-past midnight, there was an assault on the corner of Wood and Guys Streets.

A female had been punched in the face with a closed fist a number of times.

Warwick Police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slatersecurity said nearby security from a licensed premises intervened and they have a suspect.

Car stolen

After arriving back at their property on Sunday 29 May, a local reported that their Peters Street home had been broken into.

The victim had been away since 30 April and returned to find their unregistered Ford Falcon stolen.

A 31-year-old has been asked to appear in court for trespassing and stealing relating to the incident.

Mount Barney incident

According to a Queensland Police spokesperson, a man contacted police after being stranded at Mount Barney over the weekend.

Due to weather and terrain, SES attended the scene.

The man in his 50s was walked down the mountain for part of the way before being airlifted on Monday morning by QGAir helicopters to Beaudesert Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
