Stanthorpe Therapeutic Arts and Recovery Space (STARS) officially launched its new website last week and the company’s Trevor Horsnell said it was part of their development.

Still in the early stages of establishment, Trevor said that the new STARS website was to help inform people about their services.

“We’re looking at using social media to reach more people and then we can refer them to the website where they can see what we do and the programs we’re developing,” he said.

“We have four Facebook pages that we update for different STARS areas, like the community gallery and studio.”

Trevor said the NGO, which strives to deliver artistic programs and support through art therapy, is currently working with homeschooled kids between five and 17 years who live on the Granite Belt.

“There are two arts interaction sessions each week and we have 30 kids involved,” he said.

Other projects STARS is working on is an art exhibition for mental health awareness week in October, which Trevor said would be open for four to five weeks.

“Our art groups are working on self-portraits – self-work,” he said.

“We were granted funding through the Regional Arts Development Fund for it.”

STARS community space is located at 97a Folkestone Road, Stanthorpe, and offers collaborative community programs, creative art workshops, an interactive youth space, and a community gallery space.
