O’Mara’s Hotel break-in

Between midnight and 5am on Sunday 18 September, O’Mara’s Hotel in Stanthorpe was broken into and the offender stole $1700.

Police said one suspect was involved, as deduced through CCTV footage, but this unknown offender had their face covered and investigations are ongoing.

This individual gained entry to the hotel via an unknown point and this thievery was discovered by owners after the incident.

Wallangarra fire

On Saturday just before midday, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) were called to a small, 50m grass fire on Mount Norman Road at Wallangarra.

According to QFES and Queensland Police, the fire was non-suspicious.

However, the crew on the job had a handle on it by 1pm when the fire started burning back on itself and it started dampening by 2.30pm.

By 3.30pm, the fire had been extinguished and QFES left the scene shortly after.

Warwick car theft

Between 10pm on 14 September and 1.05am on 15 September, a house was broken into on Sonny Lane in Warwick.

The resident went to bed and was woken at five past one in the morning to hear his vehicle being driven out of his driveway where it was parked.

The suspect gained entry to the house and subsequently stole the owner’s keys, resulting in the theft.

Upon driving away, the offenders crashed into the neighbour’s colour bond fence and kept driving.

The vehicle is outstanding and is a Mitsubishi Pajero.

The offender is still being investigated.

Warwick CBD crashes

At 4.30pm last Thursday on the corner of Albion and Percy Streets, an accident involving a Hyundai and a Toyota station wagon occurred.

One of the vehicles was travelling east on Percy Street and went through a stop sign, colliding with the Hyundai.

Both drivers were taken by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to Warwick Hospital for observation.

On the same day at 6.15pm, a traffic accident happened on the corner of Wood and Tooth Streets.

A Toyota Hatchback was turning from Tooth Street onto Wood Street when it collided with a Nissan Utility.

The male Toyota driver was taken to hospital for observation as a result and the matter is still under investigation.
