In one year, the Greenup Showcase has grown from a small event to one that features more than 30 artisans, chainsaw carving demonstrations, wine tasting, and music.

The talented bunch of artisans and producers come from the Inglewood area, the Granite Belt region and Warwick, and even from as far away as Caboolture.

But there is one thing that unites them all and that is their connection to this region.

Shelley Reilly from Greenup Meeting Place said they will be showcasing a very broad range of creative arts and crafts this year.

“We have everything from handmade woodwork signature toys, crafted earrings, hand sublimated homewares and gifts, glass work, bead making, lead lighting, metal garden art, local produce and so much more,” Shelley said.

Michele Hollister, Greenup Meeting Places’ resident glass artist, collaborated with Shelley to create the showcase and bring it to life.

“We are very proud of our little area and want people to visit and enjoy what we and the area have to offer,” Shelley said.

“Our aim is to bring people back to the bush for the weekend, to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of our local area or use it as a base to explore the rest of the Goondiwindi and Granite Belt region.

“The Greenup Showcase allows our artisans to gain exposure to the local region and visiting people.

“We hope to continue to build our event with classes and workshops being provided in future Showcases, from our many talented artisans,” she said.

The weather dampened last year’s two-day showcase, preventing some exhibitors and visitors from attending, but Shelley hopes this year’s weather will be more cooperative.

The Greenup Showcase is on Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 October starting at 10 am – 4 pm.
