Despite Curves Stanthorpe only being operational for 15 years, the centre is celebrating the milestone of its corporate birthday with a bang.

Curves Health and Fitness has turned 30, and with that comes some major changes.

Curves aims to be more inclusive, have new workouts to offer and new programs added to their collection, including a once-a-month free virtual workout.

The class will focus on the important aspects of cardio, the basics and boxing to increase core strength, balance and coordination.

Additionally, Suzanne Robins, owner of Curves Stanthorpe, said each week a new workout of the week will be available.

“The workout will incorporate the use of a resistance band for focusing on larger muscle groups,” Ms Robins said.

“Or a smaller band for the smaller muscle areas.”

In addition to workouts, Curves also have new health and education programs available.

“The health and education series are a 6-week program that delve deeper into a specific aspect of fitness, for example there’s a stretch and stress management course, a pelvic floor and balance course.

“The courses help to educate, but you also get exercises with each specific course which you build on over the six-week program,” she said.

In line with the format of being more inclusive, Curves now offer a pay-as-you-go system.

“Traditionally we’ve always been annual contract clients, however, clients can purchase a five or ten class pass to use over two months now.”

Curves Stanthorpe programs are accessible to people living with a disability or a chronic illness who would like to exercise or move their bodies in a safe and effective way.

Ms Robins said a few of her 47 clients have a disability.

“I love seeing their improvements. I had a new member say to me after completing three workouts how much more motivated she feels.”

“Exercise is important in so many ways, not just physically. It’s about keeping the muscles working and the joints lubricated and the mind positive.”
