We’ve been spared some of the harsher weather however the Bureau of Meteorology is still warning of showers and the risk of severe thunderstorms throughout the Southern Downs and Granite Belt.

The unsettled weather is due to continue for the Southern Downs and Granite Belt regions with a wet start heading into the new week, so keep your brolly close by.

Thunderstorms are likely to be severe at times with strong wind gusts and the potential of hail.

A minor flood warning was issued for the Condamine and Balonne River catchments as rainfall totals recorded at Bungil creek reached up to 50mm and isolated falls total up to mm across parts of the Maranoa and Balonne river catchments and the Wallam creek catchment.

Flood warning for the Condamine river downstream to Loudoun Bridge is current.

The forecast for the rest of Friday suggests a possible storm with a 100 per cent chance of rain throughout the region.

Cloudy. Very high chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy falls. Winds northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures in the low to high 20s.

Saturday 22 October

Cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe. Light winds becoming northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the late evening. Overnight temperatures falling to around 16 with daytime temperatures reaching 21 to 26.

Sunday 23 October

Partly cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers in the far east, medium (60%) chance elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm. Light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h during the morning. Overnight temperatures falling to around 16 with daytime temperatures reaching the low to high 20s.

Monday 24 October

Partly cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers over the Granite Belt, medium (60%) chance elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm. Winds east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h tending north to northeasterly during the morning then becoming light during the afternoon. Overnight temperatures falling to around 15 with daytime temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s.
