The police officer wounded in a siege that claimed the life of two colleagues has been moved by the support shown by the Stanthorpe community.

Randall and his wife, Breanna, have been overwhelmed by the messages of support from everyone, from the Prime Minister down.

Mrs Kirk said her husband is recovering well from surgery and wanted to thank all the public who are showing support for the Queensland Police.

“I’m feeling fine, just a little sore,” Constable Kirk said from his hospital bed.

“My main thoughts are with the other police families at this awful time.”

He continued, “It means a lot to know the community cares for all of us.”

Constable Kirk, his wife and their young daughter are expecting a new addition to their family in January.

“My wife and I have a young family and would appreciate privacy as we come to terms with this,” he said.
