The Snowflakes in Stanthorpe have got the ball rolling or perhaps they are getting the Snowballs rolling as preparations begin for the biannual event to be held 30 June to 2 July.

The 2023 Festival Committee has started dusting off their winter woollies and are full steam ahead with planning this year’s event according to Snowflakes President Trace Gosney.

“You can expect to see many of the same favourites back like the Synthetic Ice Rink sponsored by Bendigo Bank, Petting Zoo and of course a spectacular fireworks display,” Trace said.

Snowflakes in Stanthorpe tickets will be available soon via the website and they are expecting to see more of the same large crowds as 2021 so highly recommend getting in quickly to nab your tickets.

After the 2021 festival, the committee was able to pay out over $30,000 to local community groups who contributed to running parts of Snowflakes in Stanthorpe Winter Festival.

Stanthorpe Carlton United Football Club were one of the recipients and the soccer club’s president Amy Torrisi said it was a mutually beneficial arrangement.

“The club benefits by using the funding to be able to facilitate community sport for kids from five to over 35’s,” she said.

According to Mr Gosney one of the committees objectives is ensuring that volunteers aren’t burnt out and sharing the love between 17 other local organisations.

He said he was looking forward to the 2023 event and welcoming festival goers back to the Granite Belt.

Mr Gosney recommends keeping an eye on their social media for all updates regarding the festival including new activities and acts.

“This year’s festival is partnering with Tourism Queensland and are recipients of funding from QDEP,” he said.

“This will assist the festival with its growth and increasing tourism in our region.

“It’s going to be Snow Much fun.”
