Driving into the Stanthorpe Hospital is set to be a smoother experience all round, with work progressing on road surfaces at the site.

Stanthorpe Hospital director of Nursing Chris Smith said the works were expected to be completed late next week (6 April).

The work has been divided into three stages to minimise disruption to staff, patients and visitors.

Stage 3 of the program is to upgrade the bitumen behind the main building between the ambulance ramp and the Outpatients building.

That area will be closed until Friday, 5 April.

“During this time there will be no access to the rear entrance to the Emergency Department adjacent to the Queensland Ambulance Service ramp, so we would ask anyone going to ED to please use the main entrance at the front of the hospital,“ said Dr Smith.

“We have been liaising with QAS and arrangements are in place for them to use alternative drop-off and pick-up points while Stage 3 upgrade works are under way.

“We plan to have the campus entrances from McGregor Terrace, Bridge Street, and at the intersection of Day and Flemming Streets accessible as usual during the works.

“In the event of a change, signs will be in place to direct traffic.“

Stages 1 and 2 involved drainage improvements and the installation of kerbing.
