If you’re a farmer, put this date in your diary straight away: 11 May.

That’s when the Horticulture Queensland will run a half-day workshop that it describes as ‘dishing the dirt’ on horticulture hacks and apps.

For three-and-half hours from 9am at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism, farmers will be able to uncover some of the most efficient ways to get their paperwork under control and leave themselves more time for what’s really important – actually growing their fruit and vegetables.

Horticulture Queensland described it like this: “Horticulture is a tough gig. We’re committed to supporting the industry in getting the jump on administrative overwhelm.”

The hacks and apps workshop will help people unearth tools, resources, shortcuts and fixes to help with the daily grind.

The workshop features intel from start-up entrepreneur Jennifer McKee from Spades. She has developed record-keeping and compliance management software especially for the horticulture industry and loves to share her time-slashing ideas.

Also speaking will be Hannah Clarke from Safe Ag Solutions, which is an online QR-coded safety system that streamlines workplace health and safety processes and procedures.

Other presenters will include growers from throughout the State who will talk about sensor technology, on-farm connectivity options and onboarding/training staff software solutions.

The workshop is being presented by Horticulture Queensland with support from nbn Local.
