Stanthorpe State School is gearing up for a momentous milestone next year as they prepare to celebrate their 150th anniversary.

To celebrate this significant event, the school sought to do something different.

With the support of the Southern Downs Regional Council, they received a grant to create a music video featuring local singer-songwriter Josh Arnold.

The School’s Principal Christine Williamson said the video highlighted the school and showcased Stanthorpe’s beauty and charm.

On Wednesday 18 October ‘Higher Things’ premiered at the school and Christine said the kids loved to see the finished product of what they created.

“They were so proud of their school and town, and the parents were able to see the talented students we have here.”

Josh Arnold said he is incredibly proud of the ‘Higher Things’ production.

“The students who took part are so talented and they were so energetic and enthusiastic which made them all a pleasure to work with,” he said.

The school decided they, not only wanted to celebrate their school but also their community as Christine said reaching the 150 year mark is a testament to its deep-rooted importance within the town.

“Small towns like Stanthorpe value their schools and this milestone celebration allows everyone to reflect on the significant growth and changes that have taken place over the years,” she said.

The future of Stanthorpe State School is bright according to Christine. The students and staff look forward to showcasing the wonderful things they achieve and the song and video was just the beginning.
