Stanthorpe Pony Club recently celebrated a fantastic turnout for their first rally day of the year, drawing in a total of 23 enthusiastic riders. The event, held on Sunday, marked the beginning of what promises to be an exciting show season for the club.

Club president Emily Gilbert expressed her delight.

“We are thrilled with the strong turnout we had for our first rally day,” she said. “It’s truly a testament to the passion and dedication of our members.“

With the show season approaching, the club focused its efforts on preparing riders for various aspects of competition. The day’s activities included essential skills such as measuring horses, learning hack classes, and understanding the finer points of presenting both horse and rider in the show ring.

“We believe in providing our members with a comprehensive foundation in all things related to equestrian competitions,“ Ms Gilbert said.

“From the basics of horse measurement to the skills of presenting oneself during a show, our riders are gaining valuable experience that will serve them well in upcoming competitions.“

A significant highlight is the club’s participation in upcoming Stanthorpe Show, with several members slated to compete. The club will be actively involved in sporting events during the show on Friday afternoon, showcasing the diverse talents of its riders.

Following the show, the Stanthorpe Pony Club will extend its presence to the local campdraft, organising novelty events the weekend after the show. These events promise to add an extra layer of excitement and camaraderie among club members and the local community.

In a major development, the club is set to host the 2024 Zone 21 Gymkhana later this year, with the date yet to be confirmed. This prestigious event is expected to draw participants from across the region, showcasing the Stanthorpe Pony Club’s commitment to promoting equestrian excellence.

Looking ahead, the Stanthorpe Pony Club gymkhana is scheduled to make a return in August, providing another opportunity for riders to showcase their skills and compete in a supportive and encouraging environment.

As the year progresses, the club plans to conclude its activities with a break at Cabarita Beach, continuing the tradition of ending the year with relaxation and camaraderie among members.

The Stanthorpe Pony Club extends a warm welcome to community members of all ages and skill levels. The club provides a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, fostering friendships and skill development for kids, adults, and their horses.
