Spectacular opening

The Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival kicked off with flair and festivity on Friday 23 February, as the streets filled with people from near and far who came to get a taste of the best the region has to offer.

The festival’s official inauguration was marked by a vibrant display of live music, car exhibits, and mascots meandering through the crowds.

At the stroke of 7pm, the Festival Street Lights illuminated the crowd, courtesy of Ergon Energy, signalling the commencement of the grand celebration.

Saturday ushered in a plethora of engaging activities for attendees, with the spotlight shining brightly on the Busking event. The Stanthorpe Civic Centre played host to the South East Queensland Finals of the National Busking Championships, drawing a packed audience eager to witness the talented performers vie for top honours.

Sunday paid homage to the rich Italian heritage of the Granite Belt region with the much-anticipated Banchetto Italiano, an Italian Long Lunch. Over 500 locals and tourists converged at the Stanthorpe Showgrounds, indulging in a sumptuous five-course meal amid lively entertainment and convivial conversations.

As the first weekend festivities drew to a close, anticipation mounted for the upcoming second weekend, promising even more entertainment and excitement. From the celebrity grape crush to the final parade, this will be something you won’t want to miss out.
