It’s never too late to celebrate your neighbours according to the Teapots among Timbers in the Stanthorpe community.

The community recently came together to celebrate Neighbour Day, highlighting the importance of fostering connections with those who reside nearby, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.

The teapots among Timbers group celebrated last weekend with their colourful teapots and homemade treats.

“The morning was spent chatting about our special neighbourhood,” a member said.

The brainchild of Andrew Heslop, Neighbour Day has gained traction across Australia, with numerous events organised to encourage social interactions among residents.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Heslop emphasised the pivotal role neighbours play in supporting each other through various challenges, including bushfires, floods, and emergencies.

“Our communities are only as strong as the people who live in them, which is why Neighbour Day provides a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the people who live around us,”

“Whether you live in the city or the bush, in a house, an apartment or on a farm Neighbour Day is the day to say thanks for being a great neighbour, thanks for helping me out and thanks for being there when I needed you most.

“I strongly encourage everyone to be a part of Australia’s biggest celebration of community – not just on Neighbour Day, but on every day of the year.”
