The Warwick Poultry Club held its 119th Annual Show over the weekend, attracting a large crowd with exhibitors travelling from far and wide.

With over 400 entries benched, the event showcased a diverse array of poultry, highlighting the dedication and passion of the participants.

The judges for the event were Adam Jannusch from Toowoomba, whose family has been involved in poultry showing for over three generations, and Brian Kennedy, a well-known figure in both poultry and rugby league circles.

The highlight of the show was the Grand Champion fowl, a light Sussex bantam owned by Amanda Woods of Border Poultry.

A long-term supporter of the Warwick Club Show, Woods celebrated her first Grand Champion title, earning a place on the Club Honour Board.

The runner-up and Reserve Grand Champion was a Black-Red Old English Game bantam exhibited by Terry Politch.

Other major winners included Felicia Aden, who won Champion Large Softfeather with a Silkie, and Glenn and Karen Banks, who took home Champion Large Hardfeather with a Pitt Game.

In the waterfowl category, Chantel Osmond triumphed with a call duck. The Champion Junior was Erin Frazer, impressing with her Muscovy duck.

Local member Chris Kershaw received special recognition for showcasing his Lakenvelders, a rare breed originating in Europe.

His contribution was one of many notable entries that highlighted the show’s high standards and wide-ranging appeal.

The club’s enthusiastic juniors played a significant role, not only by exhibiting their fowls but also by assisting in the canteen and serving as stewards.

Abi Geraghty, in particular, excelled in her role as a steward for Brian Kennedy, who praised her organisational skills during his speech at the end of the show.

The next show at the Warwick Showgrounds will be the Quack and Crow Show in September, promising another opportunity for poultry enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their shared passion.
