The Stanthorpe community beams with pride for its very own Olympic swimmer, Ben Armbruster. Last week, the Rotary Club of The Granite Belt demonstrated this community spirit by presenting a cheque to Ben’s father, Scott Armbruster, at the Stanthorpe YMCA.

The funds are intended to support Team Armbruster with ongoing expenses as Ben heads to the Olympics.

Scott Armbruster expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Ben and the family, acknowledging the overwhelming support from the local community.

“We have been truly humbled by the support of the local community,“ Mr Armbruster said.

During the meeting, Scott shared some exclusive footage of Ben at the Australian training camp, noting that his son is in excellent shape, training diligently, and eagerly anticipating his Olympic experience.

Greg Paxton, President of the Rotary Club, highlighted the honour of having a local athlete representing them in the Paris Olympics.

“We are fortunate to have such a local connection with the Paris Olympics, and our club is proud and pleased to support Ben,” Mr Paxton said.

“You can guarantee we will all be cheering Ben on from our loungerooms as he flies the Stanthorpe and Australian flag.“

The Armbruster family departed to Paris on Monday 22 July, carrying the hopes and cheers of the entire community with them.
