Warwick netball has wrapped up it’s winter season with seniors finals, representative and junior break up days – and the presentation of a pretty special award.

The association is already preparing for the mixed netball summer competition.

The competition begins on Monday 23 September and is held on Monday and Tuesday nights runs for 12 weeks finishing just before Christmas. The competition is perfect for summer fun and friendships. Contact the association’s Facebook page for more information.

Saturday’s junior competition would up with a fun day of netball, facepaint and celebration.

The day also saw the presentation of awards for the season including the prestigious Dr Barbara O’Dea Club Person of the Year Award to Jasmine Hunt, according to association secretary Linda Bunch.

“Barbara O’Dea was a “netball parent”. She held no positions or titles, she didn’t coach or manage rep teams, yet she was “the parent” who was always happy, willing, and very able to do whatever the task at hand was,” Bunch said.

“This year we present this award to a Mum who is a true representative of the award.

“I didn’t personally know Barbara, but we believe we have a clone of her with this year’s recipient.

“Jasmine Hunt is a worker of all workers, she’s here every Saturday early and one of the last to leave, she doesn’t wait to be asked, she simply sees a job and does it.

“There’s no song and dance, there’s no accolades wanted, in her eyes there is simply a job needing doing, and she does it.

“This lady is also the same at senior fixtures and rep. Umpiring is another wonderful talent of hers and she is the first to jump to a game should a fellow umpire not be able to fill their spot and sends out and SOS.

“To round out her achievements, this year she also took on a head coach role of our SET level players and fulfilled that perfectly and always with the most beautiful smile on her face.”
