Joining the north and south, the Warwick and the Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to roll out several new initiatives aimed at empowering businesses in the Southern Downs and Granite Belt regions.

With a fresh team and renewed focus, these programs are designed to help local businesses stay competitive and grow, despite the constant shifts in the marketplace.

At the heart of the chambers’ efforts is the Business Knowledge Program, which will offer a mix of in-person workshops and online resources.

The initiative brings together experts in marketing, e-commerce, finance, and technology to equip local business owners with the tools they need to thrive.

Warwick Chamber secretary Teilah McKelvey said the program was developed after recognising the need for ongoing support beyond one-time sessions.

“What we’re finding with workshops is you only retain about 10 per cent of what you learn, so we’re offering additional online access and live sessions for four weeks after the workshops,” she explained.

“We want you to implement what you’ve learned so that your businesses can grow because that’s what we’re here for.”

In addition to the Business Knowledge Program, the chambers have also rebranded the popular Why Leave Town initiative as Shop Local: Southern Downs and Granite Belt. The rebranding reflects a more cohesive regional identity and encourages local spending in towns such as Stanthorpe, Warwick, Killarney, and Allora.

“It just made sense. We always tell people to shop locally, so why not formalise that with a vibrant, modern brand,” Teilah said.

The Shop Local program includes both physical gift cards and a new digital wallet option, making it easier for residents and visitors to spend money locally.

Michelle, a supplier for the program, encouraged businesses to get involved: “We signed up six years ago, and it’s been great for us. It’s not just for Christmas gifts – you can use it year-round, whether for staff rewards, charity donations, or fundraising promotions.”

The Chambers are also encouraging businesses to engage with the Shop Local initiative online. New social media channels on Facebook and Instagram will promote local businesses, while professional photography will be offered to enhance their marketing efforts.

Twelve lucky businesses will even have the opportunity to win a free content shoot.

“This is about supporting each other and building a stronger local economy. I encourage everyone to scan the QR codes, sign up for the programs, and let’s work together to grow our businesses.”

With these new initiatives, the Warwick Chamber of Commerce and Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce hope to foster a stronger, more connected local business community that can thrive in today’s ever-changing landscape.
