Stanthorpe marked the United Nations International Day of Peace with a heartfelt community event hosted by the Interact Club of Stanthorpe for the second year running.

The event, highlighted the importance of unity and harmony with peace messages from residents, businesses, and community groups displayed throughout the park.

The Interact Club of Stanthorpe, comprised of youth aged 12 to 18, led the initiative with enthusiasm, embracing the motto “service above self.”

“We’re really keen to make a difference in our community, and this event helps us promote the message of peace from a wide range of groups—local, state, federal, and even overseas,“ a Club spokesperson said.

In addition to the peace messages, the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe Flexitime supported the event with a bake sale, adding a delicious touch to the day.

The funds raised will go toward future projects, including the potential installation of peace poles at Rotary Park, creating a space for locals and visitors to reflect on peace and appreciate the contributions of the youth.

The event emphasised the importance of community and coming together harmoniously. The park could soon become a symbol of peace, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the local youth.
