Get ready for the Warwick Picnic Races

The 118th Warwick Picnic Races is set to be a cracker of a day on May 12.
One of the oldest genuine Picnic Races in Australia, the committee is always improving the format, facilities and points of interest for the day out.
“We expect a great crowd this year; it is a wonderful social occasion and lots of young people working and studying in Brisbane and further afield love coming out to the races. We gather someone may even be flying themselves up from Sydney for the event,” club president Helen Lewis said.
Many members have been attending for 40 plus years, which is a real tribute to how special this event is.
“This year we are introducing a few silent auctions that will run throughout the day, which are a hoot, letting groups outbid their buddies for fabulous prizes,” Lewis said.
“If you want to get dressed up for the races, have a few keen friends, enjoy fashions on the field, the silent auctions, Calcutta and a sunset sausage sizzle with Brisbane band ‘Sweet Souls’ into the evening, the members area is unique as you bring your own picnic and drinks, find a table under the marquee or umbrellas, enjoy a day at the races either with gourmet catering and table decorations or a cut lunch, with tickets $45,” she said.
“Or for a simpler option – enjoy the full race program, bring your picnic, with table and chairs, enjoy drinks from the bar – tickets $15 at the Turf Club entrance and no need to book tickets – just turn up.”
