In the pink for a cause

Stanthorpe Gremlins players try pink for size before training on Tuesday night.
Organizers are hoping Sullivan Oval will be turned into a sea of pink this weekend as the Gremlins host their second Pink Day. The fundraising event, with proceeds going to the Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group and breast cancer, was held for the first time last season.
Gremlins players will be resplendent in pink jerseys. Main sponsor for the jerseys are Stanthorpe Rural and Gremlins president Norm Crisp said the support from Todd Wilshire and the team at CRT was fantastic.
“CRT is the main jersey sponsor but we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from local sponsors. Twenty-three other sponsors have come on board to ensure the day is a great success,” he said.
The day will have something for everyone. Ladies and their partners are encouraged to come dressed in pink. Tickets to the Pink Marquee are available and ladies will receive a free glass of bubbles on arrival along with nibbles during the afternoon. For catering purposes please pick up your pink ticket from Gracious Giving in Stanthorpe.
The blokes have not been overlooked. There is a novelty relay race during the half-time break and the blokes are encouraged to nominate a team. Nominations will be taken at the bar in the clubhouse on Saturday prior to the game. My strong suggestion is to read the “fine print” before committing too heavily.
The fun and frivolity does not end when full-time is blown on the game (yes there is a football game).
Following the game there will be a fashion parade in the clubhouse. A decorated bra competition so get creative and the pink jerseys will go under the hammer.
