ROUND ROBIN LAUNCHES BRL SEASON

After a busy off season and many changes to the Border Rugby League fans will get a look at seven of the eight teams in the preseason Round Robin this weekend. For the first time Wallangarra host the annual event.

It heralds the launch of an exciting new season for the league. Teams are reporting good numbers and the round robin will be the first chance many players have to size up the quality of their opposition this year with the inclusion of three new sides.

With seven games in total the action gets underway at 11.00am with a revitalised Killarney side taking on Tenterfield. Killarney Cutters have been bolstered by off season signings including former Bronco’s player Nick Parfitt and others. The Cutters are expected to be a far more competitive side this season.

Winners of the 2012 Round Robin Stanthorpe Gremlins play newcomers Goondiwindi Blue in the second game due to kick off at 11.50.

The second Goondiwindi side make their first appearance in the next game taking on the current BRL premiers Inglewood.

The home side get their chance when they play near neighbours Tenterfield at 1.30pm.

The last game before the final is set down for 4.00pm with the final due to get underway at 4.50.

Points will be allocated with two points for a win; 1 win for a draw and nil for a loss. In the event of a tie “for and against” points will be taken into consideration to determine positions in the final.

Round Robin Draw 598 2012 Round Robin winners Stanthorpe Gremlins will be hoping to go back to back this weekend.
