Stanthorpe takes rodeo spotlight

The Stanthorpe rodeo committee will host round one of the 2022 National Rodeo finals on Saturday at the Rodeo grounds at the Stanthorpe Show ground,

The action in the “Tough Enough Wear Pink Round gets underway at 5pm

Among the competitors will be local bull rider Billy Gallaway who currently heads the standing s in the Under 15 Mini Bull Ride.

Despite his tender years Gallaway has been competing in the NRA for seven years. This season he has made the step up to bigger and stronger bulls in this category.

Gallaway is one of 11 finalists in the Under 15 bull Ride.

Katie Vaughan is the number one finalist in the Steer Undecorating. Katie, who is NRA 2022 Barrel Racing director, has been involved in the rodeo scene since she was seven years old.

Her horse Dice was injured during the season, and she has faced plenty of challenges. She is hoping for three consistent runs in the three events she has qualified in and says she keeps likes to her training and practice sessions simple.
