Young Swimmers from across Queensland will be on show this weekend during the two day

meet at the Sleeman Sports centre in Brisbane for the 2023 Qld State Sprint Championships.

Among them will be representatives from the Stanthorpe Dolphins, the Allora Swim Club

and the Warwick club.

All Swimmers aged 10 and upwards were required to reach certain qualifying times for each

event on the card to be eligible to participate.

Amy Hill from the Stanthorpe Dolphins said the club has 14 of the 16 swimmers who

qualified and will attend the event. Members of the club will be competing in a total of 34

events. Four of the 14 have qualified to swim in all four strokes which has coach Gail Smail

very excited.

The Allora club will also be very well represented. 25 swimmers qualified for the

Championships and registered. Allora has 66 individual entries.

A club spokesperson said on Tuesday that Ellyse Kruger and Bailey Harm are two of the

exciting swimmers from the club who have been swimming very well recently and they hope

to see do well on the weekend.

A strong contingent of swimmers will also represent Warwick.

For many this will be the first opportunity to swim in an international standard pool and that

in itself will be exciting.

Stanthorpe coach Gail Smail said, “I can’t wait to see them on the pool deck amongst

Queensland’s best junior swimmers.”

After this weekend some of them might be from our backyard.
