Racing returns to Carnell raceway this weekend for round four of the Sprints and Short Circuit Motor Racing, the SCMSA’s final meeting of 2023.

There is sure to be plenty of hot action during the two days of competition. Motor sport enthusiasts are in for a real treat with the return of Drifters to Carnell. Revolution Motor Sport will be doing Drift Demos and testing over the weekend.

The team from Revolution Motorsport are keen to again add Carnell to their 2024 calendar as are the SCMSA officials.

“We will be looking at the level of interest there is this weekend in the Drifters,” a spokesperson for the officials said.

“The Drifters put on a real show.

“It is a real spectacle and very entertaining to watch.

“We hope they will draw another group of supporters.”

Since it was announced on Revolution’s Facebook page that Drifting was making a return to Carnell this weekend there has been nothing but positive comments from a myriad of drivers who have thrown their support behind the idea with drivers rating the Carnell track highly. Many including Matthew Gooley. Dan Rae and Kody Nelson and others are keen for a return to Stanthorpe.

This is positive news for the Drift Driving community as the key to Drifting is variety and the introduction of a new track can only help Drifting grow and develop as a sport.

Of course there will be plenty of action in the Sprints and Short Circuit racing right across the weekend. Drivers from across Southern Queensland, Northern NSW, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast regions will be in action.

Entry on both days is free and you can mingle with the drivers and crew in the pit area. The Canteen will once again be manned by the Stanthorpe Scouts group during the two days and camping facilities are available on site.

The committee of the SCMSA have continued to upgrade the Carnell Raceway facilities for patrons and drivers since their last meeting in July.

Racing will get underway at 9am on both days and the Drift Demos will at various times throughout the two days.
