Stanthorpe Bowls Club

The team of John Fairley, Jeff Alldridge and Greg Zanchetta have taken out the 2024 Stanthorpe Bowls Selected Triples Championship.

The event was played 4-5 May in a round robin format.

Fairley, Alldridge and Zanchetta started well defeating W Hurnall, Col Denning and David Rose 17 shots to 15.

In another close game, Greg Hammond, Bruno Stefanon and Len Girgenti had a one shot loss to Hurnall, Denning and Rose losing 17-16.

And in the final game on Sunday, Fairley, Alldridge and Zanchetta defeated Hammond, Stefanon and Girgenti 20-16. Congratulations to John Fairley, Jeff Alldridge and Greg Zanchetta who managed to win both their games and take the 2024 title. The results of all the games were very close and a great weekend was had by all who took part in the event.

In Social Bowls to date, Colin Denning and Len Girgenti defeated David Draper and David Rose, 18 shots to 12. Lorraine Evans, Caroline Draper and Brian Brown had a 19 to 11 shot victory over Margaret Harvey, Steve Sheahan and Greg Hammond and in a game of singles Brian Brown defeated Greg Zanchetta by 25 shots to15.

The 2024 Club Selected Fours event will take place on 15-16 June. Entries close on Saturday, 8 June and the nomination form and conditions of play are up on the Club notice board.

The next ‘Turkey Triples’ day will be held on Tuesday May 14, starting at 10am. Cost is $15.00 per person and includes two games of bowls, a light lunch, refreshments and there will be prize money for the winners and runners up. THE SUMMIT BOWLS

The Summit Bowls Men’s Fours will be played on 18 May with nominations closing on Saturday 11 May. This event will be club selected.

The club is also going to play an A and B Pairs. This will be an open event. A nomination sheet is on the board. This will be a three bowl pairs event and is club selected. Nominations close on 1 June.

Three games of pairs were played on Saturday afternoon. Results are as follows – Alex Mattiazzi and Rod Crome 26 v Eddie Zanatta and Rod Crome 11 – Pam Moore and Frank Taylor 19 v Maree Ball and Michael Sweeney 15 – Mattie Murphy and Rob Capelli 22 v Rod Newlands and Jamie Zamprogno 7.

The Club Sevens will be held at Tenterfield on 29-30 Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30. Our club hopes to field 3 teams in this event. At the moment the club is close to fielding three teams. If available please place your names on the sheet on the board.

The District Sides will be away this week. This event is a wonderful opportunity for bowlers as it is four days of competitive bowls and bowlers get the opportunity to play at Broadbeach Bowls Club. The club wishes the players all the best.

Warwick East bowls club

Wayne Foster has taken out the Saturday social bowls played on 4 May at Warwick East Bowls Club with Chris Lawler as runner-up.

Twelve players took to the rinks making three rinks of pairs, after two games of some good bowls and a few laughs it was Foster who came out on top.

Social bowls will be back on next Saturday 11th of May starting at 1 pm, all welcome, for those who don’t have their own bowls the club can supply some.

Warwick East bowls club would like to wish the best of luck to our three bowlers going away with the district side next week Peter Collis Aaron McKinney and Adam Tozer.

Warwick Bowls Club

On Wednesday, 1 May, two Social Games of Bowls were played with 16 players on the green at Warwick Bowls Club.

After the first game the winners moved onto the next rink and the losers stayed where they were for the second Game.

The players were Ken Hayes, Dave Scotney, Edwin Welsh, Phil Wagner, Vic Skilton, Michael Dungey, Shane Bailey, James White, Ray Southee, Craig Thurgate, Nat Kumseewad, Marion Skaines, Barry Perks, Dave Russell, Russell Bean, Pat Seipelt.

On Saturday, 4 May, two social games were played. Result first Game: Ken Hayes and Dave Scotney def Dave Russell and Craig Thurgate 20-8; Lyall Brettell and Russell Bean def Vic Skilton and Clark Davidson 18-7; Nat Kumseewad and John Ruhle def Michael Dungey and Gary Cooper 14-5; Daphne Brettell and Ray Southee def Shane Bailey and Faye Flint 13-7.

Result second game – Skip’s name only: Clark Davidson def Craig Thurgate 10-5; Dave Scotney def Russell Bean 15-6; Faye Flint def Gary Cooper 10-8; Ray Southee def John Ruhle 11-8.
