The Warwick’s Gardens Galore Redbacks experienced a tough outing against Coolaroo in Round 10 of the Darling Downs Australian Rules competition at Warwick Credit Union Oval, succumbing to a comprehensive defeat.

The Roos dominated from the outset, establishing an insurmountable lead early on and maintaining their momentum throughout the match to win 22-18 (150) to 2-6 (18).

Coolaroo set the tone early, keeping the Redbacks goalless in the first half while piling on 10 goals of their own.

The Roos’ aggressive and coordinated play saw them take a commanding 64-point lead into halftime. Despite the Redbacks’ efforts, they struggled to find their rhythm against a well-drilled Coolaroo side.

The Redbacks managed to get on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter, with Brendan Iles scoring his first goal from a tough angle. However, the Roos continued to apply pressure, finding extra numbers around the ball and creating overlaps that allowed them to surge forward repeatedly.

In the final quarter, Coolaroo’s dominance became even more pronounced as they added another eight goals to their tally. Although Lachlan Phyland managed to score the Redbacks’ second goal of the match, the Roos proved far too strong, ultimately running away with a 22.18.150 to 2.6.18 victory.

Despite the heavy loss, there were notable performances from several Redbacks players: Augustus Macdade: a stalwart in defence, Macdade’s second efforts and gut-running made Coolaroo work for their goals. Tyhe Clarkson, Caleb Back, and Zac Wall: The midfield trio worked tirelessly throughout the match, battling hard to win possessions and create opportunities.

Brendan Iles: A strong target in the forward line, Iles had multiple shots at goal and finally broke through in the third quarter.

Anthony Rixon: Made a significant impact with his hard chasing in defence and contributed effectively when moved into the midfield late in the game.
